

George Medeiros, aged 101 years, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025 in Houston, Texas. Born in Dartmouth, Massachusetts in 1923, he resided in New Bedford, Massachusetts until a 2020 departure to live with his son, George Jr., in Houston, Texas.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943, and actively participated in the historic D-Day landing in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. He concluded his active duty in Germany and received an honorable discharge in 1945, returning to New Bedford.
He was initially employed as a truck driver, later spending the majority of his years employed as a sewing machine mechanic/machinist in various industrial garment sites in New Bedford and Fall River, Massachusetts, until his retirement.
George was predeceased by his wife Doris (Normandin) Medeiros; parents Francisco and Maria Medeiros; and all of his siblings (Mabel, Laura, Clotilde, Dorothy, Manuel, and William). He is survived by his son George Medeiros Jr. and his wife Beverly Christiansen of Houston, Texas; daughter Debra Joseph of North Dartmouth; grandchildren Sara, Alison, and Adam; and five great-grandchildren in Sugar Land Texas, Mya, Keira, Dominic, Aaliyah, and Selena. He also leaves a nephew James King and his wife Susan in Lake Lure, North Carolina.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and interred in the Veterans National Cemetery in Houston, Texas on March, 27, 2025.
