George N. Sanders Jr., age 88, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. He was born in Colorado County, Texas on October 3, 1935 to parents George William Sanders and Gertrude Chatman.
George graduated from La Grange high school (Randolph). He met Ressie B. Newton in Houston, Texas. George worked in construction at Brown Root for over 10 years. He then served as a supervisor with the City of Houston for over 30 years. He was a member of Jireh Church International and had a passion for hunting, rodeos, and traveling. George was ordained as an ArchDeacon in Faith Fellowship International. He served in that position under his son, Metropolitan Bishop George Sanders. He also served as a sergeant deputy in Harris County Precinct One under Constable Walter Rankin.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ressie B. Newton Sanders; siblings, Lenora, Andrew, and William.
George is survived by his children, Bishop George Nelse Sanders III (La Tresa), Walter Sanders (Lisa), Lisa Caesar Gibbs (Lonnie), and Lakita Sanders-Johnson (Freddie); sister, Joyce M. Sanders-Harris; and a very special son, William "Bear" Harris; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

A visitation for George will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Heart of Faith Worship Center, 12275 Homestead Rd, Houston, TX 77050. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12:00 PM, 12275 Homestead Rd, Houston, TX 77050. An interment will occur Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
