George Thomas Shaver, 72, of Houston, Texas, passed away on September 1st, 2013 after a brief fight with colon cancer. He was born in Brownsboro, Texas to Maxine Felts and Joe Shaver on April 19th, 1941. George graduated from Tipton High School and attended college at the University of North Texas from 1969 – 1971. He was married to Rosie Shaver on January 19th, 2013.
George served in the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer USS Ozbourn. He worked for Texas Instruments and was part of the Apollo space program. George worked in the biomedical sector in Houston for two decades and most recently worked for PAC. He loved working in high technology fields and thrived there.
George loved to dance and to teach others to dance. He also enjoyed working on his backyard garden and fish pond. George was very proud of his home entertainment system and gun collection.
George is survived by his wife Rosie Shaver; his sons Scott Shaver and wife Anastasia and Jeff Shaver; his grandchildren Austin and Ashley Shaver; his brothers Kenneth Shaver and wife Eileen and Joe Shaver; step-children Kristy and Riley Everitt.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068.
