Georgia LaVerne Zepeda, 80 years of age, was called home by her Lord and Savior after a short illness with cancer, on Saturday, February 2, 2019, with her two sons at her side, at the home of Marvin and Sue Zepeda in League City, Texas.

Georgia was born December 6, 1938 in Santa Anna, Texas to James Cloud and Francis Brown. She was the only child of James and Francis. Losing her mom at an early age to cancer, Georgia was raised by her father and step-mother. Being the child of a migrant farm worker, Georgia’s education spanned from Texas to California to Kansas.

Georgia married Joe Zepeda in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1958. Two children were born from this union, Marvin in 1959, and Vernon in 1962.

The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1964. Georgia always took an active role in her son’s lives, from being classroom mom in school to being team mom in Little League Baseball. She loved working in the church and always cherished praising the Lord. She was a Sunday School teacher for decades, mostly teaching children whom she loved so much. She also served on many committees throughout the years doing the Lord’s work. Georgia loved reading her Bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing, and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She always thought of others first. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by all who came in contact with her.

Georgia is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joe Zepeda; her parents, James Cloud and Francis Brown. Also, her sisters-in-law, Lillian Sanchez and Waldine Tilley.

She is survived by her two sons, Marvin, and wife, Sue, and Vernon, and wife, Lisa; her sister-in-law, Helen; her grandchildren: Jessica, Stephanie, Daniel, and Aaron; and her great-grandchildren: Caden, Briana, Xavier, and coming very soon, Journey.

Georgia touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She lived by 1 Corinthians 13:13 …. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.

Mom, I could not have asked for a more wonderful mother-in-law. Grandma,
A baby cradled in your arms...
Teaching me your gentle charms.
Growing up with you by my side...
Learning from you never to lie.
To understand and not judge too...
Love and kindness I also learned from you.
Through the years you watched me grow...
Teaching me everything I'd need to know.
Listening to every word I've said...
And every word I wrote you've read.
You've been there for me to the end...
Until the day for you, God did send.
Now you watch me from up above...
Shining down on me your heavenly love.
I will miss you with all my heart...
Thank you for being there from the start.

You have been everything to me. I could not have ask for more. I know you will always be with me. I will miss you terribly. I can not wait to tell Journey all about you. I love you Grandma!

Though her smile is gone forever
and her hand I cannot touch
I still have so many memories
Of the one I loved so much.
Her memory is now my keepsake
Which with I'll never part.
God has her in his keeping
I have her in my heart.
Sadly missed but never forgotten.

I love you so much! Rest in Peace my sweet precious Grandma! Until we meet again...

Love,
Stephanie
