Gerald Glen Garrett

Gerald Glen Garrett, born in Houston, TX on July 28, 1965, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from multiple health complications. He was 59 years old. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, E. Edward Garrett, mother, M. Cleo Garrett, brothers, Ronald and Dennis Garrett, and sister-in-law, Gaynell Gaines Garrett. He is survived by three siblings, E. Eugene “Gene” Garrett (Gaynell), Karen Fourgo (Laurent), and Brenda Garrett (Donnie).

Gerald graduated from Aldine High School in 1983 and worked a variety of construction related and other jobs, including at The Leader newspaper, alongside his mom. He found his real purpose as the devoted caretaker of his cherished mother, who passed away only last April at age 92. Cleo never missed an opportunity to tell each person she spoke with how much she appreciated all that Gerald did for her each day. His brother and sisters are also eternally grateful. Gerald will also be missed by several close friends, neighbors, and extended family members.

Gerald was taken from us far too early. He will be remembered for his efforts to make others smile, his singing jingles, and gentle grin. We love you, little brother!

A graveside service for Gerald will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13747 Eastex Fwy Rd, Houston, TX 77039. Please meet the family at the funeral home at 1pm for a procession to the graveside at 1:30pm.
