

He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 65 years, Rita, and a role model to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an alumni of St. Thomas Catholic High School and retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. George A. Wilhelm Assembly 1094 and Council 2917. He was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church serving on the Lector Guild, Candle Guild, and Altar Server Guild and in 2016 was named an Acolyte.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (Austin) Hatten, and daughters Debbie McCaskill (Jim), Cheryl Grafe (Pat), Karen Owens (Kenny), and Theresa Grahmann (Alois), 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Brother George R. Hatten, III(Joann) and sister Janet Smith(Alan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents George R. Hatten, Jr. and Dorothy (Coulter) Hatten, and sister Patricia Clebosky.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:00 PM with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors in the Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 24th at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, Texas 77055 with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
Pallbearers are grandsons, David Grafe, Jason Kokes, Matthew Kokes, Steven Owens, Nicholas Grahmann and Garrett Grahmann.
