

Pete lived a full life! He was raised in Amarillo, Texas, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served in the Pacific including the battle on Okinawa near the end of World War II. After his Navy service, Pete enrolled at Texas Tech University and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Pete had a distinguished career in the petro-chemical industry. He joined Humble Oil and Refining Company, now Exxon Mobil. While working in the Friendswood Field, he met Mary Mount, a secretary at the Friendswood Field. In 1953 they were married. Later Pete was offered an overseas position, and he and his family spent six years in Australia and three years in Saudi Arabia. Before going overseas, Pete and Mary had two daughters, enabling the family to travel and see many places around the world.
Preceding Pete in death were his parents and a sister, Neva, and his first wife, Mary, who died in 1997. Later he met Jeanne Coogler and they were married in 1999.
Pete is survived by his daughters: Sandy Peterson Groschke (Mark) and Sherry Peterson, both of Houston; also his two granddaughters: Tara Groschke and Christy Groschke Landgraf (Andrew); his great-grandson: Nolan Bradley Landgraf…all of Houston; and a brother, Frank Peterson of Ventura, California.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Monday, October 28, at 2 p.m., at Memorial Drive United Methodist, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, 77079. A reception will follow at the church.
