Geraldine D. Nowlin was born in Jackson, Mississippi on July 22, 1919. She was married to Samuel S Nowlin for twenty-nine years until he preceded her in death in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Felix R. and Ruby S. Dykes and two brothers, Percy R. Dykes, and Felix R. Dykes Jr.
She is survived by son Stephen D. Newlin, and a daughter Sandra J. Peterson; two sisters Betty Matteson and Beverly Searle; five grandchildren; Eron S. Peterson, Jason Nowlin, Jalor Peterson, Brian Nowlin, and Kimberly R. Mitchell; also, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She had great love for all of her family and friends. She had many cousins, nieces, and nephews that she loved as if they were her own.
