

Born on June 28, 1949, in Houston, Texas, Gilbert lived a life defined by faith, service, love, and unwavering dedication to family. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to those around him. His warm spirit, kind heart, and joyful personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Gilbert’s memory will remain a source of comfort, inspiration, & love for generations to come.
Gilbert is survived by his beloved sister, Rachel Alba, his only surviving sibling, along with his seven children, grandchildren, extended family members, dear friends, & all whose lives were touched by his presence.
For 45 years, Gilbert proudly owned & operated Alba Metal Finishing, a chrome plating business. A true master of his craft, he took great pride in his work & the expertise he developed throughout his career.
Above all, Gilbert cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children & grandchildren, creating lasting memories through family gatherings, celebrations, and shared stories. Family was always at the center of his life.
Gilbert also enjoyed many passions throughout the years. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars, loved listening to oldies music, & was a devoted supporter of the Houston Oilers & Houston Texans.
His life was further distinguished by his deep faith and commitment to serving others. After attending Bible school, Gilbert faithfully served as a pastor of his own church for many years before retiring from ministry. Through his leadership, compassion, and steadfast testimony, he impacted countless lives and faithfully shared God’s word within his community.
Gilbert was also a proud United States Army Vietnam veteran who honorably served his country with courage, dedication, and distinction. In recognition of his bravery, he was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding meritorious achievement in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. His military service reflected his strength of character, loyalty, and willingness to sacrifice for others. His service & sacrifice will forever be remembered with gratitude, honor, & respect.
Gilbert will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, his patriotic service, & the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of kindness, humor, strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003, on September 21, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003, on September 21, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
