Glen Douglas (Corky) Moody, 90, took the hand of Jesus in his sleep early morning on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in his home in Magnolia,Texas. He was born to Kyle and Jesse (Horton) Moody in Rotan, Texas on October 31, 1928. One brother, Leon Moody, and one baby sister preceded him in death.

His daughters, Patty Joplin, Sarah Moore, son-in-law, Marvin Moore, grandson Randall Joplin, granddaughters Kelsey Moore, Erin Moore, brother-in-law, Ernest Patty, half-brother, Mike Moody, first cousin Doris Tidwell and nieces and nephews remain to celebrate and remember his life.

Corky served in the Navy in Korea and returned to work and raise his family in Plainview, Texas with his wife of 59 years, Patricia Dale (Patty) Moody. He was employed as a journeyman lineman with Southwestern Public Service for 40 years and faithfully attended First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Corky enjoyed fishing and reading about US history. After moving to Magnolia, Texas with his daughters, and son-in-law, Corky joined Magnolia’s First Baptist Church and lived out the rest of his life worshipping our Lord and being loved and cared for by a wonderful congregation. He continued to fish with his new buddies, play dominoes at the Community Center and even joined the Lions Club. He ministered to all of his neighbors on his golf cart by inviting them to church.

A celebration service will be held Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10:00 am in the worship center of Magnolia’s First Baptist Church. Military honors will be conducted at Houston National Cemetery and a small graveside service will be held in Plainview, Texas in the future.

Corky was a faithful member of the Formby Class — the oldest men’s class— at First Baptist in Plainview that I was privileged to teach for 12’years. He was a good friend and always very encouraging and supportive. He gave me a couple of nice sports coats. Blessings to all his family.

I will miss seeing him at the end of our table at Magnolia Lions Club meetings.
Corky always had a hug and good word for me.

We are all saddened about the loss of your dad. Corky has a special spot in our hearts along with your sweet Mamma, Pat. Your family goes way back not just with my side of the Thompson family , but with Troy's side as well. I always admired how Corky doted on Pat and you girls. His wit and laughter was captivating and enjoyed by all who was around him. I enjoyed being "friends" with him on Facebook the past few years. We are sending love and prayers to you all during this difficult time.
Love,
Stephanie Thompson
P.S. I LOVE the pictures you all have posted. Sweet memories.
