

Gloria Georgie Martin, 84, of Spring, TX, passed away March 10, 2024. She was born in Delight, AR on September 25, 1939. Her schooling was in several states as her family followed the logging industry. She got married and started a family of her own in CA. She and her husband moved back to AR where she raised her children, until an opportunity came to move to Texas. Once there, and as her children matured, she sought higher education in Denver, CO, attending Mile High Reporting School. Glo (as she was called) embarked on another career in the Oil & Gas Industry in the 1980s making some lifelong friends along the way. But, her transcription skills played a big part as she went to work for State Farm Insurance Company. She retired from there in 2000.
Glo had a real compassion for stray cats and spent a lifetime rescuing them off the streets.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, James A. Martin, her father, George Hunter, mother, Georgie Mae Hunter, sons, Kevin Sykes and son, Brian Sykes. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Wallace (Richard), of Spring, TX, sisters, Phyllis Charles, (Phillip), of McKinney, TX, and Janet Belt, (Charlie), of Tyler, TX; family friend adopted daughter, Kandi Neilsen,( Christopher) , of Spring, TX.
Grandchildren are Chad O'farrell (Melissa), John Williams (Resa), Justin Knight (Heather), and Virgil Knight (Morgan).
Great grandchildren are Jayden Knight, Easton Knight, and Maxwell O'farrell. Many more cousins and other relatives who love her.

Gloria's arrangements are as follows: A visitation for Gloria will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
