Gloria Montez went to be with the lord on October 22, 2021. She was born on February 16, 1947 in Elgin, Texas to parents Jesus and Josephine Peña. Gloria retired from the Harris County Tax Office on the 31st day of May, 2012 after 15 years of loyal service to Harris County residents. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Josephine Peña, husband, Saul Montez, brother, Victor Peña, and sister Aurora Peña. She is survived by her two children, son, Saul R. Montez and wife Bobbi, and daughter, Cynthia S. Montez; nine grandchildren Desiree Rodriguez, Josephina Xochipiltecatl and husband Fabian, Alysa (Damien) Montez, Brittany Medina and wife Brittney, Mikayla Montez, Seth Phillips, Raven Montez, Saul Rene Montez Jr. and Eric Orozco; six great-grandchildren Jiovani Rodriguez, Jeremiah Ramirez, Abran Xochipiltecatl, Daniel Xochipiltecatl, Brielle Medina and Graysen Skaff-Arizola. Gloria is also survived by her brother Alberto Peña, sister Raquel P. Vasquez, numerous nephews, nieces, friends and others whose lives Gloria touched.
The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Funeral services will be from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A final viewing will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home with the committal service to follow from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
