Gloria was born July 31, 1935, the oldest child of Edgar Augustus Hughes and Julia Lee Hughes (nèe Willingham).
Her first job at age 18 was at the phone company. After being there for a short time, she went out with friends and ended up meeting her future husband. It wasn’t long and she married Harold Lee Nash on January 3, 1954. After they married, she became a stay-at-home wife and later a mother to 5 wonderful children. She spent her time raising a family until the late 1960s when she started work in the retail industry. She continued in various positions until retiring in her early 60s.
Gloria loved people. She never met a stranger and enjoyed having a good time with those around her. She was never afraid to act goofy to get a smile and have fun. She even showed off a few unusual dance moves that everyone had a good time with & imitated them often!
Her favorite color was blue which could be seen from her shoes to her glasses.
She had a great love for waterfalls, lions and horses, football and old westerns, particularly John Wayne. She also had a love for good food. She would never turn down some fried catfish, shrimp or chicken tenders.
She was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, sister, 2 brothers, husband, Harold, and son Harrold, Jr.
She is survived by children Shelly Nash, Fonda (Fines) Geeslin, Theresa (Thurman) Gregory, Lois (Richard) Pennington. As well as 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. Many of those have spouses that she treated as her own. She was lovingly known by them all as Gamaw.
