

Godwin was born Lagos, Nigeria to Late Nathaniel and Grace Akobundu on Sep 3rd, 1958. He went to school at Lagos Baptist Academy. He married Dorothy Akobundu on Nov 26, 1994 in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Texas College in Tyler, Texas. He worked as a Medical Technologist for Methodist Hospital Willowbrook for ten years before ultimately quitting and starting his business well known under the name Trinity African Bar and Grill. Over the years he became the Nigerian Philanthropist we all grew to know and love. He was involved in Peoples Club of Nigeria Houston Branch First International, Lord's Club, Enyimba Social Club USA, Winners club of Houston, Umuahia Association, Ohuhu Progressive Union.
Godwin is preceded in death by Mary Azode, his older sister.
Godwin is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children Reggie, Anthony, Chibuzo, Chimaobi and Vanessa. His siblings Comfort, Friday, Nwakego. Ndubuisi, Josephine, and Alex. His mother Grace and his grandchildren Aubree and Sa'riyah.
