

Godwin Edowenuyi was born on June 24th, 1960, in Boji Boji Agbor. He was the first son of Mr Agustine Iriamiator Ikiahke and Mrs Victoria Evbayiro Orhue Ikiahke of Evbiolulu Irua in Esan Central of Edo State. He was in a close-knit family of 6 siblings. From an early age, he displayed a curious mind, a compassionate heart and loved drumming; he was then called the okpo okpo scatter in Agbor, qualities that defined him throughout his early life. Growing up in Agbor, he developed a love for movies, which became integral to his late identity.
Godwin pursued his early education at Saint John Primary School Agbor and was later taken to Benin City by his eldest sister to continue his secondary education at Adolor College Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State, where he excelled in his subject area of interest. After completing his secondary education, he worked at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital "UBTH" Medical Record Admin. There, Godwin embarked on a search to travel to the US. His ambition came through in 1982, and he left Nigeria and spent a few months with his eldest sister late Christy Adesuwa Omoregie in the UK before he left to the US. He lived a quiet life because he always remembered where he came from. Godwin was evident to all who knew him, and he was a calm and kind man.
Outside of his US life, Godwin returned to Nigeria to Nigerian after many years in 1992. He was encouraged to find a trusted and dedicated wife. On his second visit In December 1993/94 to Nigeria, Godwin saw Bridget and forsake others and immediately expressed his love to marry Bridget. A seven year old prophecy from his 4 years old nephew, who promised to marry Bridget and would take her and her whole family to America came to pass. Godwin married his heart, Rob, whom he loved at foresight, Mrs Bridget Aduke Garuba Ikiahke, in June 1995, and together they built a home filled with love and joy. They are blessed with three children, Victoria, Victor, and Vincent, whom he adores. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Godwin had a deep passion for movies and drumming, which he pursued with the same enthusiasm he brought to his work and family. Which gave birth to PapaG Nollywood Kingdom, Spending time, he found great joy in Nollywood movie activities. His love for these hobbies was infectious; he believed that no venture, no success, and he often shared this passion with others, creating lasting memories with those who joined him.
A firm believer in his father's land, Godwin was actively involved in his Esan community, especially as an Esan man. He volunteered in drumming in churches. His commitment significantly impacted the lives of many, and he was known for his generosity and willingness to help others.
In the last week of February 2024, Godwin was in London to celebrate the 10th years remembrance of his late elder sister Mrs Christy Omoregie. The family was shocked to see Godwin faced with a health challenge. Yet he did so with the same courage, faith and grace that had defined his life. He continued to be a source of strength and inspiration for his immediate and extended family and friends, even as his health began to decline.
A visitation for Godwin will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 BELLAIRE BLVD, HOUSTON, TX 77083, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
