Born in San Antonio, Texas, on November 27, 1944 to her beloved mother Beatriz and father Tiburcio Basaldua, Guadalupe carried her roots with pride throughout her life. She was a woman defined by her strength, her faith, and her deep love for family. Those who knew her would tell you she had a way of making everyone feel cared for—whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, or simply her presence.
Guadalupe dedicated many years of her life working as a cafeteria worker, where she served others with kindness and consistency. After retiring, she followed her heart and stepped into her passion for floral work, finding joy in creating beauty and sharing it with others.
She truly lived life with spirit. She loved cooking for her family, filling her home with laughter, music, and the sounds of Tejano songs playing in the background. She loved to dance, to serve others, and above all, to worship and walk with Jesus. Her faith was her foundation, and it guided the way she loved people—fully, generously, and without hesitation.
Guadalupe was caring, nurturing, strong, honest, adventurous, and fiercely protective of those she loved—even to her very last day. Her family was her world, and she poured herself into every generation that followed her.
She is survived by her two sisters and one brother; her loving children, Chris Martinez, Annette Escobar, and Angie Morales, along with their spouses; as well as her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her spirit forward.
She is now reunited in heaven with her parents and her brothers and sisters who went before her—a joyful reunion that brings comfort to those she leaves behind.
Guadalupe’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and resilience. Her legacy will live on in the stories shared around kitchen tables, in the music that makes her family dance, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
