Guadalupe M. Tello

April 28, 1930March 5, 2019

Guadalupe Tello born April 28, 1930 in Gladstell, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday March 5, 2018 at 88 years old.

During her time on earth, Guadalupe devoted her life to God, her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. It was her joy to cook for her family and to meet the needs of others. The bible says we are to be the light and salt of the earth and anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her can testify, that Lupe was strongly seasoned and vividly bright. It was an honor and privilege to know her and to be loved by her. Lupe’s life story served as her testimony of her love and devotion to God and it was evident. Even through many faith wavering challenges she faced such as cancer, and several other life-threatening health issues, her faith not once wavered. If anything, it grew stronger and it became her opportunity to guide others to Christ. She ultimately succumbed to Alzheimer’s several years ago, but not even that could fully crush her spirit. To perfectly describe her to someone who did not know her, I would reference Proverbs 31:25-30. “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Mamo (our families nickname for her) you surpassed them all!! You will never be forgotten. Thank you for being the greatest example to us of our heavenly fathers love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Abel Tello, her mother and father Maria Morales Garcia and Manuel Martinez as well as one sister and three brothers. She leaves behind her children Mary Tamez and husband Refugio Tamez II, Fernando Tello and wife Carolyn Tello and Alice Martinez and husband Felix Martinez. Her grandchildren Refugio Tamez III, Melinda Saenz, Mark Anthony Tamez, Fernando Tello Jr., Isabel Hubbard, Abel Tello, Jacob Tamez, Rebecca Whitby, and Alex Martinez and 21 great grandchildren as well as her brother Reyes Garcia and sister Trinidad Osorio.

Viewing will be Thursday March 7th from 5pm to 9pm at Brookside Cypress Creek Chapel located at 9149 Hwy 6 N. Houston, TX 77095. Funeral services will commence at 9am March 8th with a short service beginning at 11am Immediately followed by the procession to the graveside at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery 1800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.

I remember when we lived all in the same block, your Mom and mine were always good friends. I know that she is happy with your Dad at this time. I know you will miss her but she is at peace now, no pain and her young self again. I know how it feels to lose your Mom I was there at one time. The memories will help a lot. My prayers and thoughts are with your family. She was a sweet lady.
