

Gunter Lowe, 70, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2011. Gunter was born on August 17, 1940 to Joseph and Louise Lowe in Hindenburg, Germany. Gunter was a loving, generous husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He was a kind hearted, endearing person who was well liked by everyone. Gunter immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1962 at the age of 22 knowing very little English. During the 60s and 70s he worked as Chef at the Rice Hotel, the Warwick Hotel, the Petroleum Club, Brennan’s, and Vargo’s. On November 21, 1963 Gunter had the honor of preparing President John F. Kennedy’s last dinner while he and Vice President Johnson along with their wives stayed at the Rice Hotel. In 1975 he transitioned to a sales position in the meat packing industry. He worked at Hendrix, Main Packing, Blue Ribbon, and Freedman before retiring at Sysco Foods in February 2010. Gunter was preceded in death by his parents and his older sisters Beatrix and Lannie. He is survived by his wife Sandra Lowe, his two sons Robert Lowe (Bobby) and Michael Lowe, and his daughters in law Angela Mix and Svetlana Lowe. Gunter is also survived by his three grandchildren Karsten Lowe, Anna Lowe, and Stefan Lowe.
