Gustavo is survived by his spouse, Estela Velasco (also known as "Gorda") whom he was married for 57 years; his son Gustavo Velasco II and wife Cheryl Velasco; and his son Rafael Velasco and Kimberly Velasco; his sisters Antonia Armas and Martha Haley; and his grandchildren Timothy Velasco, Michael Velasco, Tara Wisnowski, Tiffani Saenz, Alyssa Velasco, Hunter Velasco and Shannon Velasco.
Gustavo was preceded in death by his father Pedro Velasco and his mother Velia Velasco; his brothers Jorge E. Velasco and Horacio Velasco; and his sisters Carolina Kalkwarf and Carmen Ruth Velasco.
Gustavo was a loving son, spouse, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered as a great gentleman; always respectful, full of integrity, and very charismatic. He led his sons by example and taught them the values and morals of life. He was an avid sports fan, especially with baseball, soccer, and boxing. Gustavo was very knowledgeable in trades and at all times hardworking. Although he is now gone, he will never be forgotten by his loved ones who will miss him dearly.
A visitation for Gustavo will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A rosary will occur Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022.
