Born on April 28, 1961, Gwendolyn lived a life full of resilience, grace, and deep devotion to her family. She was the kind of woman whose presence filled a room, soft-spoken when needed, bold when it mattered, and always, always rooted in love. Her strength carried her through every storm. Her laughter healed.
Her heart made space for everyone. Establishing a 24 year and exceptional career in the medical field
as a surgical technician at Methodist Hospital, Gwendolyn worked alongside with some of the best doctors and surgeons. She was well recognized for her hard work and dedication to the job. She truly loved, appreciated, and enjoyed what she did in the Main OR at Methodist.
Gwendolyn faced her five-year battle with stage 4 colorectal cancer with courage most could never imagine. Even in pain, she gave comfort. Even when tired, she kept showing up for the people she loved. She was not defined by her illness, she was defined by her light that always shined ever so bright.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and a beautiful Queen of quiet wisdom. She believed in protecting her peace, loving her people, and doing what was right even when it wasn’t easy. She made her house feel like home and she made her presence feel like safety.
Gwendolyn is survived by her children Dwight Richardson, Alicia Salami, Justine Salami, he grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends who became family.
We invite all who knew her to come share memories, celebrate her legacy, and honor the extraordinary life she lived. Though she may be gone from our sight, she lives on in every heart she ever touched. Rest well, Mama. You did everything you were sent here to do and then some, We Love You.
