Henry Wayne Carroll, age 82, of Matagorda, Texas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, entrepreneur, mentor, friend, visionary and servant of Christ went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2017.
Wayne was born April 3, 1935 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Henry and Reba Carroll. Wayne was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his sisters Jane and Sharon and is survived by wife Sue; daughter Donna, and her daughters Elisabeth and Alexandra, and granddaughter Audrey; son Mark with his wife Julieta and daughter Kayleigh; and daughter Dana and her son Ryan and daughter Kimberly.
Wayne, above all, loved, and was adored by, his family. Wayne gave selflessly, and supported his family, his many friends, his church and his community.
A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Wayne embarked on a successful 60+ year career in the oil and gas industry, learning the industry from the ground up beginning with his 20+ year stint at Daniel Industries where he held a number of management positions. He brought that experience and insight to multiple entrepreneurial ventures, including co-founding and serving as Vice President of Flow Automation, founding and serving as President of Premier Instruments, Inc. and founding and serving as Chairman, CEO and President of TMCo, Inc.
Wayne was a man with a great entrepreneurial spirit. He saw opportunity where others perceived obstacles. He embraced challenge where others might retreat in fear. He would not accept defeat and would praise God for all. He loved building projects and has many beautiful testaments to his credit. TMCo stands as a lasting legacy to Wayne’s vision and drive as well as his commitment to those he encountered over his life. Wayne established TMCo’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the heart of Wewoka, Oklahoma, bringing jobs and economic development to his childhood home. He was dearly loved by his employees, each of whom he knew by name. In business, as in life, Wayne was old school; his handshake and his word were his bond, as strong as oak.
Wayne’s easy smile and laugh and ability to relate to people of all walks of life meant he seldom met a stranger, only friends or potential friends. He was known as a great story teller as he shared of his travels around the world. Wayne loved hunting and fishing and time with family and friends, creating a sanctuary where all were welcome on the Colorado River in Matagorda.
Wayne was an active member of Discover Life Church, Markham, Texas, with a passion to help young people. The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent in his honor to Discover Life Church, PO Box 729, Markham, TX or online at https://www.discoverlifechurch.me/give
