A proud graduate of Evan E. Worthing High School, Class of 1966, Harold excelled in both football and track. His remarkable athletic abilities earned him a full athletic scholarship to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), however his dedication to fighting racial injustice led him to relinquish this scholarship in protest of the rampant discrimination he encountered on campus. This courageous decision reflected his unwavering commitment to equality and justice.
Inspired by his experiences and driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Harold later founded his own successful business, Jupiter Delivery Service. His company thrived under his leadership, showcasing his innovative approach and determination.

Harold was also a long-time supporter of the Track Houston Youth Track Club, dedicating several seasons as a summer track coach for the club. His commitment to mentoring young athletes and his passion for sports made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
One of Harold’s most treasured qualities was his ability to connect with everyone he met. He never met a stranger, always ready to offer a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear. His genuine care and unwavering support defined his friendships and family bonds.
A devoted husband to Phyllis Willett Clewis, Harold was the cornerstone of his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Phyllis; his son, Harold Clewis II; and his daughters, Michelle Clewis and Leila Clewis.
