Dudley enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and faithfully served his country for over 7 years. During World War II, he took pride in safely guiding fallen soldiers home so that they could be laid to rest with honor and dignity in the presence of their families and surrounded by their comrades. He went on to serve as a radio man and combat veteran on the front lines of the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal for his dedication, courage, and strength of character.
After being honorably discharged, Dudley went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a degree in Management/Economics. He was married to Geraldine Caswell on December 28, 1960 and they blissfully spent the next 57 years together until her passing. Dudley had a career in the Steel Industry for over 30 years at AO Smith Pipe Mill and Armco Steel. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Union and had a passion for nutrition and health.
He is survived by his three (3) sons, Mark Weller and wife Delia, Jimmy Robbins and wife Pam, Bobby Robbins and wife Jan. His six (6) Grandchildren, Megan Frommel and husband Wesley, Gabriela Weller-Bone and husband Chris, Chris and Michael Robbins, Derrick Robbins and wife Grisel and Josh Rogers. His three (3) Great-Grandchildren, Myles Lennon Frommel, Dylon Robbins, and Aden Rogers. His two (2) brothers and two (2) sisters, Henry Weller, Albert Weller, Dorothy Campion, and Dineen Devine.
A visitation will be held in Dudley's honor on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. inside the chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77039. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:45 a.m. after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 where he will be laid to rest with honors. The family would like to invite Dudley's loved ones back to American Heritage following the committal service for a reception inside the Magnolia Room from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to share in his memory.
