I lived next door to Mrs. Blankenship, Jimmy (my age) and his beautiful big sister,  Harriet.  I was in about the seventh grade when the Demopolis Lock and Dam was being constructed .
They owned the Vine and Olive Tourist Home where several of the workers lived during that time.
I will never forget how Harriet’s  face lighted up when she talked about JAAAY💕 . . . the girl was madly in love with that handsome guy who was living upstairs. . . .it was SO romantic !
I could not get over the fact that she was actually going to move toTexas (Brownsville ?) of all places !   But it was JAAAY 💕
I didn’t see her again, but I’m glad to know that she had a happy life so far away from our little bitty town.           (Google Vine and Olive Colony in Demopolis, Alabama)

Such a tragic loss of such a special lady. I'll always remember fondly the stories of her travels with my grandmother, Patti, my mother Diane's stories of growing up across the street from her, the occasional trip to the barn, and especially one hilarious trip to Reno - even as a five year old, or whatever age I was, I remember her exceptional humor and warmth. My sincere condolences to the family - my thoughts are with you, and with her.

I remember your Mother so fondly as my first secretary at Wilchester Elementary School.  We worked hand-in-hand to open Wilchester in January 1967.  Your Mother was a very professional secretary with a very warm smile for everyone and a caring manner.  I continued to be principal at the school until 1992. 

I met Harriet at Edgewood Elementary School as a mother of one of my students.  She was very active in all our school activities, being very organized and supportive.  (J.:  I will always remember you as the best ringmaster of the Gerren-Cooper First Grade circus)

We will miss MeeMaw also but she is in a better place.  So sorry I couldn't come to the services, but age is against me too. We are thinking of you and you all are in our prayers.  Carl and Flo

The Visitation for Harriet Harmon will be Tuesday, February 17th at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. Family visitation from 5-6 PM, friends are welcome from 6-8 PM.

So sorry for your loss. It's a difficult  time for all when a Parent passes. She's in your heart smiling with wonderful memories. May she rest inpeace.

Oh how I love Auntie Harriet!  She gave me so many great memories, ones that will stay with me forever.  I miss her already.
