

Mrs. Dow was born in the 19th of September 1924 in DuQuoin, Illinois, to Harry E. and Christina Eisenhauer Richey.
Mrs. Dow attended the University of Illinois where she majored in art and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
He moved to Houston when she married George M. Dow, Jr. at Christ Church Cathedral on the 11th of April 1944, and has been a resident of both Houston and Huntsville.
While in Huntsville, for many years, she owned and operated a ladies specialty store called “Harriett’s.” She wrote the weekly column “Happily Ever After” and was the wedding editor for the Huntsville Item. She also taught manners classes and wrote the book “The Golden Rules” on table manners and social situations for the young.
In 1981 she joined Gumps of San Francisco when they opened their first satellite store in Houston, where she set up and became the bridal registrar.
She left Gumps and continued to serve as a consultant on china, crystal, silver and invitations to many brides and the community which continuing to teach manners classes.
Mrs. Dow was a founding member of the Late Bloomer Garden Club and the Blue Bird Circle.
She taught everyone she met to live life courageously, to the fullest and to make it their own.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Dow Mangini and her husband David; and her son, Andrew Dow and his wife Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Andrew John Mangini and his wife Amy, and Megan Anne Mangini.
The funeral service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 6th of November, in the Chapel of the Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard, where Fr. David Nelson, Rector at Christ the King Episcopal Church, Atascocita, and the Rev. Reagan W. Cocke, Associate Rector of the Church of St. John the Divine, are to officiate.
Interment is to follow, via an escorted cortège, at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.
