

Harry Louis Arndt, 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on October 28, 2014. He was born on January 11, 1934 in Carmine, Texas to parents, Gus and Ella Arndt. He was baptized on November 25, 1934 by Pastor Brunetti and later confirmed on March 21, 1948 by Leo Simon at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, Texas. Pastor A. M. Hanneman married Harry and Maxine Wagner on November 21, 1959 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church. They have been married for 55 years.
Harry was one of eleven children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Ella Arndt: along with sisters and brothers, Ella Mae Levien, Vera Hudgins, Mable Schramm, Lenora Jahnz, Floyd Arndt, and Clarence Arndt.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Arndt; daughter Leisa Funck and husband Craig; daughter Renee Polk and grandchildren, Garrett Russell Polk and Jayden Renee Polk; sisters and brothers Flora Jahnz, Gus and Margaret Arndt, Ed Arndt, Mary Ann and Johnney Prestwood, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jo Lynn and Bill Wray; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th Street, Houston, Texas 77018.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday October 31, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 306 E. 15th St., Houston, Texas 77008, with interment to follow at the Houston National Cemetery. Pall Bearers: Steven Arndt, Brian Arndt, Floyd Arndt, Walter Arndt, Larry Levien, Kane Prestwood, Mark Cook, and Jack Schramm.
Harry will be remembered for his love of the country, his farm, his tractor, and cattle. He was an excellent carpenter who could build anything and possessed an incredible work ethic. His life was guided by strong ethics, morality, and commitment to Christian values.
He loved to eat and demonstrated his commitment to the best of food by marrying his childhood sweetheart and best cook in Washington County, Maxine Wagner.
But more important of all was Harry’s love and commitment to family. His children and grandchildren were special to him as was the rest of his family.
He will forever be remembered as a son, brother, husband, grandfather, friend, and neighbor to all who knew and loved him.
Rest in peace, Harry. We know you are with Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, in Heaven.
