

Harry Maurice Carlton, 85, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday June 19, 2011. He was born on September 14, 1925 in Hamilton, Texas to Carl and Oda Carlton. Harry began college at Texas A&M University at the age of 17 and soon was sent to the European Theater in World War II at the age of 18. He fought in the Battle of The Bulge. He was awarded four Bronze stars and a victory medal of World War II. At the end of the war he went back to Texas A&M and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Harry was then a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force reserves until 1957. He loved his country. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carlton, granddaughter, Megan Sharpe, and grandson, Maurice Carlton III. Harry is survived by his children, Harry Carlton Jr., Cathy Sharpe & husband Rod, and Craig Carlton & wife Jami; grandsons, Caney & Kyle Carlton, Matthew & Daniel Sharpe, Chase, Chandler, & Colton Carlton, and Clay Crocker. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00PM Wednesday June 22, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday June 23, 2011 at 3:00pm in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. Interment will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Magdy Tadras and the staff at Summerville at Cy Falls for the love and care given to Harry.
