Deacon Harry Elgin Nash was born on May 25, 1939 as an only child to Almer Williams and Earfus Nash in Clarence, Louisiana. His mother was very hard working and as such, he was raised (and spoiled) by his loving grandparents George Jr. and Geraldine Preylow Williams. Despite his childhood antics, he accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age by Reverend Perkins at the Choctaw Island Baptist Church. At the age of 12, following the death of his grandfather George, the family migrated to Houston, Texas. The family then united with the Greater Mount Pillow Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor C. D. Dixon. He met and later married Lethia M. Green. He loved his “Shorty” until the day he passed. This union produced two children: Cassandra (Yook-Yook) and Sherri who are the youngest of his lovely children, Jeffrey (deceased), David and Debra Ann. Harry worked in various oil service companies for over 32 years. He later worked with his favorite passion – cars – at General Motors until 2001 when he retired. And of course, the only thing that could bring him out of his retirement would be his children. Harry worked with daughter, Cassandra, by helping her start Dickerson Pediatrics and was the billing specialist until his death. Even more than his love for family (and cars), Harry loved the Lord. Though he was a “late bloomer” in Christ, God’s timing was still best. He joined Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Mac Arthur Williams and later moved to Katy and united with Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Jones. He was ordained as Deacon in 2009 under the leadership of Pastor Tyrone Freeman. Deacon Nash worked in whatever capacity he could “as unto the Lord”. He was the Building Fund Chair, Sunday School Superintendent and helped with various church business affairs. His loving parents, grandparents and son precede him in his passing. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Lethia, his children, David (Lea Ann), Debra Ann, Cassandra (Christopher, Sr.), Sherri, and daughter-in-law Arlisha. His sister Eva Isaac and cousin (sister) Oscarene Braden. His grandchildren Allyssa, Jeffrey, Destiny, Jefon, JaKeria, Javian, Ariyana, Morgan Taylor, Christopher II and Cree; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
