Monday was such a sad day. Our older son, Josh, married his college sweetheart the fall after their graduation from Sam Houston State University. We met her parents that day at an after-graduation lunch at the local Cracker Barrel. Barb ended up at one end of a long table with Susan, Kristy's mother, and I was at the other end with her father, Harry. We hit it off right away. Harry was the classic tall, straight, soft-spoken, white-haired Southern gentleman. We were both hunters, shooters and fishermen. Finally, he said, "It looks like these kids are pretty serious about each other." I agreed and said it didn't look as though either of us would be able to change it. He concurred and added, "I just want you to know we really like Josh." He and Susan had reared two daughters, and Barb and I had reared two sons. I told him that if it were possible to custom order a daughter, I'd send in Kristy's picture. Josh and Kristy have been a wonderful team since and have given us two beautiful grandkids. Harry delighted in the kids, and we talked about a hunting or shooting outing on a future visit. Without a son to share his interests, Harry quickly adopted Josh, and when an old back injury left Josh temporarily out of work before the wedding, Harry and Susan took him in for a while until he recovered and found another job. This past weekend, Harry suffered what doctors thought was a mild heart attack. But Monday during an angiogram, he "coded," and a short time later, he died. My heart goes out to Susan Kristy, Stacy, Josh, and grandkids Rhys and Alyssa. It seems so unfair that the grandkids will not get to grow up with him. We won't get to go hunting or shooting. We all will miss him terribly. No doubt God will have a special place for him. God's speed, my friend.

Harry was a good friend in business.  We had a good time during our Delta Nu Alpha days.  He always had a smile and laugh for me.

I was Harry's secretary for many years at Enterprise. He shared many jokes and stories of the family.  He will be missed dearly.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I served on board the Kearsarge from September 1964 to August 1966.  I was not there for the astronaut recovery but I was there when John Wayne came aboard for background to film In Harm's Way.  I was also there when Robert Young filmed a movie called the Admiral.  As I don't know Harry's rate, i can't say whether i remember him or not.  i retired as a Chief Lithographer in 1990. Harry & I started working at Enterprise within one month of each other in 1980 and he was not only a colleague but a friend and almost like a brother.  Harry was good at sharing a good story, joke or giving advice when needed.  He is truly missed by his many friends at Enterprise.  Jerry and I offer our deepest sympathy to Susan, Stacey & Kristy.

I really miss working with Harry.  He was not only a colleague, but a friend. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share.  Prayers to all of his family and friends.

I have known Harry for a very long time.  I worked with him over at Enterprise and he was certainly one of a kind.   He will be truly missed.  My heart goes out to Susie and the rest of his family.  Find comfort in that he spoke of each of you often and was very proud of his family. He loved his puppy and told lots of stories of their "walk abouts".  He will always be looking down with continued love.  Find peace in knowing this.
