Harry Warren Maxwell was born in Brandenburg, Montana on Sept 29, 1931 to Glenn and Hazel Maxwell. He attended grade school in rural Montana before his family relocated to East Texas, where he completed middle school and later graduated as the salutatorian of Gillham High School's class of 1950 in Arkansas. Following high school, he enrolled in college in Magnolia, Arkansas, but soon answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. During the Korean War, he served with the 1st Engineer Combat Battalion and attained the rank of Corporal before receiving an honorable discharge in 1953.
Not long after returning home, he met the love of his life, Edna. They were married in February, 1955 and made their home in Houston, Texas. While living in Houston, he attended four years of carpentry school. One of his proudest accomplishments was graduating at the top of his class with honors and earning the distinction of Journeyman Carpenter. Throughout his career, his exceptional craftsmanship contributed to the construction of numerous high-rise commercial buildings throughout the Houston area, as well as several hospitals and schools. His work stands today as a lasting testament to his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic.
In 1977, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Candlestick Baptist Church. His faith became the foundation of his life, and he faithfully served his church for many years. In March, 1994, he was ordained as a Deacon, a role he fulfilled with humility, compassion and unwavering devotion.
Although he achieved much throughout his life, his greatest joy was found in his family and his faith. He was a devoted husband, a loving family man, and a faithful servant of God. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and camping, and he treasured the time spent with those he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Edna Maxwell; his two children Lucinda (Karl) Hawkes and Donnie (Lisa Maxwell) his grandchildren KC (Kenny) Gale, Christi (Larry) Till, Chelsye (Max) Miller, Benjamin (Katherine) Hawkes and Nicholas (Elizabeth) Hawkes. Harry also has twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren surviving him along with numerous other family and a host of friends.
