The Garza family is deeply saddened to share the passing of their beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and family patriarch, Hector Garza, who entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on June 22, 2026, at the age of 91. After a courageous battle with declining health, Hector passed peacefully, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.
Hector was born on February 8, 1935, in La Hacienda San Pedro, in the municipality of General Terán, Nuevo León, Mexico. In 1956, he and his beloved wife, Adriana Garza, immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life for their family. Together, they embraced building a life from the ground up, and ultimately achieving the American dream through hard work, faith, and perseverance.
Hector was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. He is preceded in death by his wife Adriana Garza. He is survived by his four children: Hector Garza Jr., Sandra Lieber-Alessie, Javier Garza, and Antonio (Tony) Garza. He is also survived by his son-in-law Alex Lieber-Alessie, daughter-in-law Carmen Jacqueline Garza, and dear family friend Alfred Colunga Jr.
A hardworking and humble man, Hector earned a college degree and dedicated much of his career to working in banquets at the Shamrock Hilton Hotel. Despite the demands of work, he always made time for what mattered most, his family. He sacrificed tirelessly to provide for those he loved and truly embodied the meaning of a family patriarch.
Though naturally quiet and reserved, Hector possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He loved sharing stories about his childhood in Mexico and the lessons he learned through hard work from an early age. His wisdom, gentle spirit, and steadfast character left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Hector was a proud grandfather to Amanda Garza, Christian Garza and his wife Jordan Garza, twins Aaron and Brandon Garza, and Adriana Vaughan and her husband Aaron Vaughan. He was also blessed with five beautiful great-grandchildren: Mia Teran, Ava Teran, Liam Teran, Archer Vaughan, and Ainsley Vaughan. Hector loved each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply and equally, finding immense joy in watching his family grow through the generations.
Known for his generosity, Hector was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. He gave more than he received and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, faith, and unconditional love. His warm smile, quiet strength, and gentle laughter brought comfort and happiness to those around him. Above all, Hector was a devoted Catholic whose strong faith in God guided him throughout his life and shaped the way he lived each day.
Hector was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mercedes Garza, whom he loved deeply, and his father, Antonio Garza, who passed away when Hector was only sixteen years old. He was also preceded in death by his eight siblings. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends in Houston, Arlington, and Monterrey, who will continue to honor his memory.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we are comforted by the many memories he leaves behind. He is now at peace in the presence of our Lord. Hector will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
