
Arrangements under the directiHelen Eugenia Glancy Buquoi was born May 30th, 1914 in Atchison, KA and passed away on May 21st, 2011 in Dallas, TX at the age of 96. Helen attended St. Patrick's grammar school and Mount Saint Scholastica Academy High School and College in Atchison. She completed nurses training at Saint Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City and worked for V.A. Hospitals in Alexandria, LA and Levenworth, KS. She worked for the Memorial Hospitals system in Houston and served as Night Supervisor of nursing for 18 years before retiring. She married Fabian Arthur Buquoi on September 7th, 1939 and was married for 60 years. Fabian died in 1999.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Edward Glancy and Evelyn Crahan Glancy; husband, Fabian Buquoi; sisters, Evelyn Glancy, Mary Evelyn OSB and Christine Horner; brother, John Glancy and great grand daughter, Isabella Baker.
Helen is survived by three children, John David Buquoi and wife Kim, Janez Lynne Bobigian, and Michael Eugene Buquoi and wife Sharon; seven grandchildren, John Buquoi Jr. and wife Christie, Michael Buquoi and wife Whitney, Stephanie Porter and husband Randy, Christopher Baker and wife Ana, Timothy Buquoi and wife Jessica, Christina Hoctor and husband John, Michelle Horan and husband Eric; fifteen great grandchildren, John Buquoi III, Taylor Buquoi, Cody Buquoi, Braxton Buquoi, Jacie Porter, Kasey Van Norman and husband Justin, Blake Porter and wife Susanne, Karly Porter, Ray Baker, Ryan Hoctor, Reagan Hoctor, Anderson Hoctor, Lleyton Horan, Wyatt Horan, Everett Horan and four great-great grandchildren, Emma Grace Van Norman, Lake Van Norman, Cash and Beau Porter.
Helen was a charter member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Houston, TX and member of the Altar Society and Golden Youth Club. She loved her time serving Meals on Wheels until she was no longer able to drive. Helen served in many church related activities including reception serving after funeral masses and most enjoyed making aprons for the volunteer servers.
Helen was known to her extended family as Mee Maw from the days of her first grandchild. She is most remembered for her kindness, loving approach toward others and her deep faith. Helen said the Rosary everday of her life for as long as anyone can remember and attended Mass daily for as long as she was able. She will remain in the spirit of everyone that had the opportunity to be around her. She was always inspirational and will be missed.
