Helen N. Overton

Helen Naomi "Nan" Overton (83) went to be with our Lord on November 18th, 2019. Nan was an only child, born on November 12th, 1936 in Paris, Tennessee. She graduated from Litton High School in 1955. She married Robert "Bob" T. Overton III on June 2nd, 1958. They had two children, Stephen Michael Overton and Tyrecy Lynn Babirad. Nan worked at JCPenney from 1976 to 1990. She traveled with her husband to several locations in the US, in Japan and Thailand for his work.

Nan truly never met a stranger. She was dear friends with neighbors, fellow church members, then fellow mothers of the Camp Fire Girls, and co-workers at JCPenney. She loved glamping at Chain O' Lakes and enjoyed going on trips to Galveston. She was an amazing artist, avid reader and loved animals. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. Nan was a lifelong member of the Nazarene Church and belonged to the Living Word Church of the Nazarene at Bear Creek. She and Bob loved traveling on vacations to all parts of the country with the family. Their favorite was the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Nan was proceeded in death by her husband Bob and her parents, Albert Russell and Beulah Helen Smith. She is survived by her two children, Stephen Michael Overton and Tyrecy Lynn Babirad, and her husband Peter; two grandchildren, Russell Hans Babirad and Melissa Emmy Babirad.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 25th, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home, located at 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77077, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00. Committal Service will follow the Funeral Service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Salvation Army, and Meals on Wheels.
