Mrs. Helen Rae Schutter Quast, age 81, passed away at home in Cypress, Texas with family by her side on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from complications due to a TBI suffered 4 years prior. Helen Rae was the youngest of 4 children to Jacob Edward Schutter and Margaret Lillian Conroy Schutter, born September 29, 1938 in Covington, KY. She was raised in Lebanon, OH on her family's farm with her siblings Mary Lou Kopmeyer, Robert (Bob) Schutter and Gerald (Jerry) Schutter. She attended Little Miami High School. After graduation she planned to attend school to become a flight attendant, but met E.T. two weeks prior to classes and they were married a few months later on January 2, 1960. She travelled with her family during her husband E.T.'s almost 30 years of service in the Air Force as a fighter pilot. They traveled around the world including some of her favorites Germany, Panama, Washington DC and Holloman AFB in New Mexico. She was always supporting E.T. in her volunteer services for the military and church with each move.

They raised five children and have 11 grandchildren. Son Kyle Truman Quast married to Irma Quast and their children Dylyn Emily and Damian Connor. Daughter Lou Ann Quast and her daughter Alexis Falon Quast. Daughter Lynn Rae Quast and her daughter Brooke Rae Quast. Son Todd Edward Quast married to Lori Quast and sons Casey Jacob and Colton Todd. And daughter Angie Quast Wells married to Jim A. She loved to travel, play cards, volunteer at church, garage sale and most importantly spend time with her grandchildren and family. They were the light of her life until the end and nothing gave her more joy then to see their smiling faces.

A service will be held at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, TX 77065 at 11 am on October 8th. Helen Rae has been one of my dearest friends for nearly 50 years. In Panama, in May of 1978, she picked me up in her car and drove me over the Bridge of the Americas to Gorgas Hospital to give birth to my third child. She had taken down the shower curtain from her bathroom and carefully arranged it in the back seat for me to sit on, in case my water broke. The woman knew something about having babies!

But, most important, she was that rare person who made you a better person just by knowing her. She was the only person in my long life who called me, "Chrissy." I knew it was a term of endearment and I loved hearing her say it, and I loved her. Rest easy, Helen Rae Quast, in the loving arms of your Lord and Savior. Your work on Earth is done. Like you were always telling me to do, you took good care.
