

Henry Frank Shaver of Katy, Texas passed away peacefully on November 16, 2014 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his devoted wife and family. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, November 2, 1942, He was the son of the late Henry Joseph Shaver and Rita Dunne Shaver.
Hank was a 1960 graduate of Redemptorist High School where he was an all-star on the varsity basketball team. He attended Louisiana State University. Hank joined Shell Oil in New Orleans where he was an Information Technology Specialist. He later moved to the Shell Oil Houston office where he remained for 34 years until his retirement in 1998. In 1987, he met and married the love of his life Patricia Yaple. They enjoyed a happy life in Houston and Katy. He loved to entertain family and treasured his time with his four children.
Hank had many interest and activities that he pursued with enthusiasm. From a young age, he had a lifetime passion for sports including football, baseball, and basketball. His love of sports extends to many weekends watching NFL and college football following his beloved teams The Saints and L.S.U.
In retirement, Hank was a resident of the Heritage Grand community in Katy, Texas. He led an active life playing cards on Friday night with good friends, line danced every week, volunteered at their clubhouse and traveled often. He loved his friends, neighbors and his community.
Hank will be remembered as a gentle person and true southern gentleman. He was a committed and loving husband and father above all else. He was blessed with 28 years with his best friend and wife, Patricia. He was a loyal friend with a heart of gold. The high standards and values that he lived by are a gift that will live on in all those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved twin daughters, Catherine L. Shaver and Melissa A. Shaver and by his in-laws Norma Yaple and Charles J. Yaple. Hank is survived by his wife, Patricia Yaple Shaver; his two children a daughter, Suzanna B. Shaver Henderson and a son, Henry J. Shaver both of Houston. He is further survived by a sister, Geraldine Shaver Pilet of New Orleans, LA and two brothers, James R. Shaver and Thomas J. Shaver.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciated for the fine care provided by the nurse and caregivers at Memorial Herman Hospital ICU at Katy and Methodist St. Catherine’s LTACH Hospital.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4pm to 7pn at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10 am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
