HENRY LEON SIMMONS, 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Leon was born in Summerfield, Louisiana on May 6, 1927 to the late Henry Patrick Simmons and Eva Elizabeth Deese. Leon was a graduate of Summerfield High School in 1944. He arrived to Houston, Texas in 1946 and attended Houston Business College. Leon married the love of his life, Verann Parma on November 20, 1949 and celebrated 68 years of marriage. He served two years of duty with the US Army during the Korean War. One April 29, 1954, he fathered his son and only child, Richard Wayne Simmons, who preceded him in death. Leon worked as a financial loan officer for Barclay’s Financial Group for 45 years and later worked for the Chammas Family till the end of his life. Leon frequently enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends throughout Europe and North America. He was also a loyal fan of the Houston Astros, Rockets, Oilers and Texans. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend; Leon is survived by his wife, Verann Simmons, grandson, Taylor Simmons and his wife, Lauren and their daughter Corinne, and grandson Cody Simmons, and numerous friends and extended family members.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12:30 PM, with Committal and a light reception immediately following.
