Herbert was born in Idabel, Oklahoma on July 27, 1926, to Clara Inez and John Osey Hendrix. At a young age, Herbert decided to join the Navy. He would go on to serve in World War II and the Korean War. After graduating from Oklahoma University in 1950, Herbert went on to work as an accountant in the oil and gas industry. Work brought him to Tripoli, Libya, North Africa, where he would meet his future wife, Lady Susy Arbib. They were married on September 10, 1959. After living in Tripoli and London, England, Herbert settled down in Houston, Texas with his wife and their daughter, Elisa. In retirement Herbert was eagerly involved in his two grandchildren’s lives. He enjoyed attending all of Ryan and Dean’s school and sports functions as well as taking them on many trips. Herbert was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church.
Herbert was preceded in death by his only daughter, Elisa Hendrix McLennan, and his two sisters, Dorothy Herndon and Melba Stanley. His survivors include his wife, Lady Susy Hendrix; his two grandchildren, Ryan and Dean Hendrix McLennan; and numerous other relatives.
Rev. Jeff Powers of Westminster United Methodist Church will be officiating services.
Honoring Herbert, as pallbearers are Ryan and Dean McLennan, Doug McLennan, John Smith, Bill Throckmorton, and Allen Hobbs.
