

Herbert’s family moved to Houston in 1921, where he graduated from Reagan High School in 1933. His father owned a blacksmith shop on Washington Avenue, where he worked in the business, developing it into the successful Koenig Iron Works.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the late Evelyn Edna Zoll Koenig. He is survived by his five children, Herbert, Jr., Richard, Thomas, Kathleen Querbach and Kurt. Herbert is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 1st of July, in the Drawing Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 2nd of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Steven P. Lufburrow, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries Houston, is to officiate.
The interment service is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
Honored to serve as casket bearers during the services are Mike Koenig, Neil Koenig, David Koenig, Konrad Koenig, Klayton Koenig, and Erik Koenig. Serving as honorary pallbearers are O.H. Stelter, Scott Humble, and Conrad Carroll.
