

Hertha Ruth Lemke, 85 of Pearland, previously of Houston and Spring, Texas, passed away on the 18th of December, 2010, at Memorial Herman Southeast, with her children and family by her side.
Ruth was born in Lodz, Poland, immigrated to Germany during the invasion of Poland in WWII, with her husband, Adolph. Ruth and Adolph then immigrated to Spring, Texas in 1952 with their 3 children. The family then moved to Houston and the family grew by 2. Ruth wholly plunged into American culture and way of life, embracing the new and artfully mixing it with the old. Ruth and Adolph became US. Citizens, July 29th, 1957. Ruth for many years, was a Red Cross Volunteer and made many life long friends there. She was also a member of the “Scribbler’s Club”, a women’s social club. Ruth never met a stranger. Ruth loved gardening and was a wonderful cook. Ruth loved long conversations, in particular with her grandchildren and step=grandchildren.
Ruth loved her family and lived the last few years with her daughter, Marcella. She loved life and met as many people as possible, believing that all had an interesting story and she always wanted to hear them, as well as her own.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Adolph, her mother Wanda Reisdorf Meier, Father, Martin Meier and sister.
Ruth is survived by her 5 children: (Werner), Paul and Edna, Arlo of Houston, Martin and Janice of Deer Park, Marcella and Vince Bernhardt of Pearland and Hans of Corpus Christi, Texas. Ruth is also survived by 12 Grandchildren/Step Grandcildren: Trecia, Sarah, Clayton, Jericho, Marissa, Amanda, Marissa, Kristen ,Jason, Elizabeth, John, Brian; 5 Great- Grandchildren: Brittney, Kaitlyn ,Kaydie ,Ally and Cash.
The Visitation with family will be Wednesday December 22nd, 2010 beginning at 9:00 AM. Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at Forest Park Westheimer 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston Texas 77077, Service will be conducted by Pastor Foraker.
Internment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Adolph. Ruth loved and looked forward to seeing her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
