------ Memo ------ Born July 13, 1934 in Keatchie, Louisiana, Full of life, love and laughter Hettie moved to the Houston 5th Ward area. At age 23, Hettie gave birth to first child Cathy (Katt)and at age 25 gave birth to Carolyn (Lody). Both whom she loved and held dear to her heart. As a mother wanting to have a better life for her children and herself, they moved to the Rosewood community, 7641 Westknoll St. A place where all of her family called home. Working as Head Chef for St. John Private School in River Oaks for 35yrs, she was able to retire proudly. She was a member of Greater Christian Fellowship under the leadership of Rev L. D. Thomlinson but later mover her membership to be with her husband at Mt Pleasant MBC under the Leadership of Rev C. O. Randle, until her health no longer permitted her to attend. She also held at high esteem Rev. Jimmie Lee of the Oasis of New Life Church. Hettie loved the Lord, accepting Him at an early age; she displayed her faith by always helping those in need and by letting people know God was her help and strength. Often referring to Psalms 23, she knew her mansion in heaven was waiting for her. With excitement she'd quote the words to her favorite song, "when we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing it will be; when we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout for Victory". As her health declined, you could always find two people at her, Cathy and Carolyn. The care provided always made her heart smile. Surely they followed her request, "give me my flowers while I'm alive". Wearied from her journey, Hettie knew in "whom she believed" (II Timothy 1: 12b)and began calling on the heavenly Father. Responding to her cry on Wednesday morning, August 15th at 6:30 heaven's gates opened and she took her Father's hand and went "Home".
