Hollis Fay Lindsey Cravens left this earth peacefully on April 9, 2022, at the age of 75. Hollis, or “Holly” as she was affectionately called by so many, led a beautiful and vibrant life. While it was not always easy, she persevered through each obstacle till she found her happy. Holly was reunited in the heavens with her one true love, her husband, Roger Cravens, who left our world just one year ago. Hollis was a devoted wife and spent 45 wonderful years with Roger and their extended family. She shared with him the joys of parenting two loving daughters. Susan Cravens Kirkpatrick Bayne and her husband, Scott, who live in Lee's Summit, Missouri and Charlotte Cravens Petzold who lives in Katy, Texas, whom she leaves behind, along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Grandson Danny Kirkpatrick (wife, Sarah) and Great Grandchildren Chloe, Kylie, Cadyn, Landon, Ashlyn, and Gavin of Richmond, Texas. Granddaughter Jamie Kirkpatrick Miranda (husband, Michael) and Great Grandsons Kane, Bryce, and Tyler of Katy, Texas. Granddaughter Melanie Morgan (Bayne) and Great Grandson RJ Robinson of Cypress, Texas. Granddaughter Krista Bayne Meyers (husband, Ben) and Great Grandchildren Natalie and Nathan of Chesapeake, Virginia, Grandson Blake Matthew Petzold of Houston, Texas, Grandson Brett Austin Petzold of Phoenix, AZ, and Granddaughter Brooke Ashley Petzold of Houston, Texas, their dad, Brian Petzold of Richmond, Texas remained close to Holly and Roger throughout the years. Holly loved and adored each one of them and treasured every moment spent together over the years, be it good times or bad the love always remained the same.
Hollis Fay was born in New Orleans, LA on July 22, 1946. Although a larger-than-life proud Texan, she always embraced her native Louisiana roots and her beloved family back home where she was born. She was named after her father, Hollis Lindsey. He and her mother, Ruby Kemp Lindsey, raised Hollis Fay in the New Orleans area, along with her sister and two brothers. Sadly, Hollis Fay lost her parents early in her adulthood, and she was also predeceased by her younger brother, Curtis as well as her nephew Lindsey Cahanin. Hollis Fay leaves behind her devoted sister, Janet Lindsey Cahanin, and brother, J.W. Lindsey & his family, along with her niece Britt Lindsey Davies and nephews Joshua Cahanin, Andrew Cahanin & his family that brought so much joy to her life. Hollis’s bond with her family was strong. Hollis Fay and the Lindsey siblings all shared an attribute which may have been one of Holly’s absolute best: a keen wit. She was astute, articulate, creative, clever and always knew what she wanted and how to get it. Nothing could stop her from reaching her goals.
Her path in life from Louisiana to Texas enabled her to make countless treasured friends along the way. She always had an available ear to listen, an open heart and great bottle of wine. After her education at Louisiana State University and subsequent move to Texas, she focused on her career. After working for a Law firm in downtown Houston for some time, Holly decided to make a change and took a new position at Gulf Oil, where she meets Roger Cravens and instantly fell head over heels for him. They shared many adventures in their travels, concerts, date nights at their favorite restaurants, symphonies, plays, parties, you name it, those two did it. They truly lived life to the fullest and experienced everything it had to offer. Together they shared all the highs and lows and were so blessed to have one another through it all. Holly will also be remembered for her beauty and impeccable taste. Treasures from their travels filled the home she and Roger built together as loving reminders of their experiences and clear examples of her class and a natural eye for design.
Holly Cravens touched all of us in many ways and we are simply blessed to have known her. We will miss her on this earth, but Holly’s strong faith gives us comfort even in her absence, as we know she is now embraced in the arms of her lord and savior. Your spirit will live on forever, our beautiful Hollis Fay.
