Hortense R. Guzman

Hortense R. Guzman, age 88, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Hortense was born on October 23,1935 in Inez,Texas. Hortense Guzman beloved by her family as "guela", transformed her home into a haven of love and warmth. With her apron always on she found joy in cooking and housework, ensuring that her household was filled with comfort and hospitality, these were expressions of her boundless love and dedication. Her faith as a devout catholic was unwavering with St. Jude as her patron Saint. Her spiritual devotion brought her peace and strength which she passed down to her family through acts of kindness and support. Her life was a harmonious blend of service to her loved ones and deep faith, leaving a legacy that will be cherished forever.

Hortense R. Guzman is preceded in death by her father, Vincent Rodriguez Sr., mother Timotea Looper, husband Marcelino Guzman and grandchildren Marc Anthony Lopez and Suzanne Marcella Guzman. She is survived by her daughters Sylvia Celis, Cindy Gomez (Raymundo Gomez), Theresa Mata (Jesus Mata), Virginia Guzman and son Gary Guzman (Margaret Guzman), daughter Patricia Montenegro (Angel Montenegro), along with her 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for Hortense will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A rosary service will occur Monday, July 15, 2024 at 6pm, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:30 am at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1920 Marion St, Houston, TX 77009. A committal service will follow Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:30am at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
