Hortense Martinez, 91 years old, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 5, 2026. She was born on March 2, 1935, daughter of Ricardo & Petra Ramirez. It was in 1975 that she married her beloved husband, Salvador Martinez.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, she worked at Stanco and Frito Lay demonstrating her strong work ethic and commitment to her job. She was the role model for her family through her strength, determination and dedication teaching them the value of perseverance and commitment.
She spent many years sharing her faith as a CCE teacher, where she taught elementary students. Her love of creating flower arrangements, gardening, collecting elephants and various artwork filled her home with her beauty and warmth.
Throughout her life, she left a beautiful legacy of love, family, and faith. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a cherished grandmother who gave so much of herself to her family. Her greatest joy was her family—the moments shared, the memories created, and the love that bound them together.
Hortense’s legacy extends through many generations. Her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grand children, extended family, and loved ones will forever treasure the memories they shared with her. Her love will continue to live on in each generation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Petra Ramirez, her son Jesse, her siblings, Julia, Angelo, Carrie and Connie.
She is survived by her husband, Salvador, her daughters Carmen, Rosie, Annette and Sandra and 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren.
May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord, reunited with those who went before her. Her presence was a gift, her love was a blessing, and the imprint she left on everyone she knew will be cherished in their hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003, on October 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. A Rosary Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003, on October 12, 2026, at 10:30 am.
A Committal Service will be held at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, US, on October 12, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
