He leaves behind his wife Tammie Jacobe, step daughter Erica McCarley, daughter Melissa Wilson, her husband Garrett Wilson, son Howard W. Jacobe IV, grandchildren Charlotte and Nathan Wilson, and Melody Jacobe.
He is preceded in death by his father Howard W. Jacobe, Jr., his wife, Howard’s mother, Rosemary Pearson and brother-in-law Dan Harrison III. He is remembered by his sisters Rosemary Harrison and Jan Houston, brother-in-law Steve Houston, nephew Jim Houston, niece Annie Winter, and step siblings.
Howard attended Henry W. Grady elementary school, The Kinkaid School, and Texas Military Institute; continuing his education at TCU, Texas Tech, then graduating with honors from Commonwealth College of Science earning 5 prestigious academic accolades in 1988. He was subsequently accepted into medical school at the University of Lodz, Poland, which he declined in order to remain in the U.S. with his family.
He lived a rich life, deeply rooted in the outdoors. Owning the 1776 Cattle Ranch provided a special backdrop for cherished weekends spent with his loved ones and friends, hunting, fishing, boating, and being a true steward to the land he loved. A dedicated pilot, he lived for the thrill and freedom of flight. Whether tending the 1776 Ranch, cooking a great meal, serving fine wine with family, or entertaining friends- be it at the ranch or aboard their boat, the Sea Baron-this proud Republican and his wife Tammie always cherished those moments.
The crowning glory of Howard’s life was the time he spent with his family, and his beloved pets. Faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was proud to be asked to serve as deacon in his church.
Howard’s quick wit, wonderful stories and generous spirit allowed him to connect with people, animals and nature alike. Above all he loved his family, and in his later years, battling cancer and poor health, he was eternally grateful to have his wife, children and grandchildren continually by his side.
Howard leaves a loving, united family, carrying on his tradition for life, loyalty, and love for the things that matter most. He will be deeply missed by all that truly knew him.
A Celebration of Howard's Life is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th of July in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to join the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
