

Howard Andrew Tenney, Jr., age 89 peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, the 22nd of March, 2014.
Howard was born November 5th, 1924, in Shreveport, LA, to loving parents Howard A. Tenney Sr. and Fanny Sanderson Tenney. He moved to Houston at a very early age. Howard graduated from Lamar High School and entered The University of Texas in 1942. During WWII he volunteered for the Army Air Corps where he served as a Radio Operator and Gunner on B-26 and A-26 attack bombers. He participated in 36 combat missions over France and Germany. He was honorably discharged from the services in 1945 resuming his education at the University of Houston. It was there he met his beautiful and beloved wife of 64 years, Joan Woodruff Tenney.
Howard began his business career with Monsanto Chemical Company in Texas City, Texas. He later left Monsanto and joined Jefferson Chemical Company in 1958. In 1963, Howard started a manufacture’s representative business, H.A. Tenney & Company. He retired in the late 1980s to enjoy his grandchildren and hobbies of coaching Little League baseball, playing golf, fishing, boating, and woodworking. During his life he enjoyed memberships in Lakeside Country Club, Sugar Creek Country Club, Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, Houston Power Squadron, and Downtown Houston Rotary Club.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his sister, June Davis, and his precious three children and their spouses: Barbara Tenney Conway and husband Hugh Conway, Sandra Tenney Lawshae and husband Mike Lawshae and Howard Andrew Tenney III and wife Cindy Tenney. As PawPaw, he cherished his nine grandchildren; Clare Conway Johnson and husband Matt Johnson, Miranda Jeanne Lawshae and Erich Braun , Howard A. Tenney IV “Drew” and Ashley Vance, Theodore Woodruff (Ted) Conway, Richard Andrew Lawshae and wife Stephanie Lawshae, Gene Lee Tenney and wife Natalie Tenney, Emily Katherine Conway, KathleenTenney Burleson and husband Jeremy Burleson, and Joan Lawshae Maldonado and husband Armando Maldonado. His eight great-grandchildren with the ninth due any day brought him much joy. The great grandchildren blessed with the best PawPaw were; Mia and Sophie Lawshae; Howard Andrew “Andy” Tenney V; Emma Tenney; Lucas, Annabelle, and Logan Burleson; and McCall “Mac” Johnson with Kinsland Johnson on the way.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079
