Hugh David McKie

Hugh was born in Norman, OK to Buddy and Bonnie McKie. He grew up in Dalhart, TX on the family farm, working beside his beloved grandfather. He was proud to have begun driving a tractor at the age of 9.

Hugh received a degree in Computer Science. He enjoyed the technical aspects of construction, transportation and later, in real estate. He retired in 2021. He was able to fix almost anything, and if he didn’t know how, he’d do the research until he could handle the job. His family and friends relied on his vast knowledge and many skills.

Hugh was an extremely kind, generous and loving Christian man. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, woodworking, and helping anyone he could.

Hugh had a heart for the Lord and served in so many ways, including playing the organ, managing mission teams, leading fellowship and small groups, providing communion, ushering, helping in the kitchen, and attending to church landscape and maintenance.

He loved his family dearly and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan, daughter Amy, son James, daughter Jill and husband Jacob, son Justin and wife Amy, grandchildren Joshua, Emma, Gabriel, and Elijah, sister Taysha and husband Rick, brother Jay and wife Katrina, brother-in-law Randy and wife Mary, sister-in-law Amy, many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Hugh requested no formal memorial service. He wished to be remembered as he was in life, filled with joy.
