There are no words to say what love is, no language that can fully convey what grief or pain is, and yet words must be found, so that, together, we celebrate a life, and share our human grief. For we meet together in sorrow, but even so, in gratitude, to remember and honor the spirit and life and work of Abiola Idayat Akinbolu.
Abiola Akinbolu suddenly departed this life July 4th, 2016 at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston TX. Abiola was born to the proud parents of late Justice & Mrs. llori on March 16th, 1950 in Abeokuta Nigeria. There she was raised by her lovely grandmother who she loved dearly. She was joined in holy matrimony in 1975 to late Mr. Adekunle Akinbolu in which this union was blessed with five beloved children. After the untimely death of her husband, Abiola devoted her time and money in raising her children. She moved everywhere work was available and places where she could raise her children. She lived in Maryland, New York, and Houston.
“Alhaja” as she was affectionately called by friends and family was always giving advice about the importance of life and patience in doing things. She was a peacemaker among friends and family. Although a full grown woman, she had a merry heart of a little girl. She loved life and she remained a loyal fan of the San Antonio Spurs and Seattle Seahawks. She Always “blowing her horn in support of her team”. Idayat was a devoted member of Celestial Church of Christ – (Ileri Oluwa Parish, Houston TX). There she worked faithfully as “Mother in Christ”.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her five children: Ganiyat Aremu, Afusa Akinbolu, Fatima Akinbolu-Ademolu , Qudus Akinbolu and Omotayo Akinbolu along with seven grandchildren, a host of brothers, sisters, cousins and friends.
Mommy, we love you and we will forever miss you. We wish you were here, but God loves you more. Only HE knows what’s best for you. No more misery nor pain, but Mom, things will never be the same without you here.
We love you and may you rest in perfect peace! (Amen)
