

Ignacio Perez Huerta son of Adalberto Huerta Gonzalez and Gabriela Perez Huerta passed away on March 21, 2025 at the age of 86. Born in Rayon San Luis Potosi, the Huerta Family moved to Matamoros, Mexico, and eventually to Harlingen, Texas.
From 1946 to 1955, the family traveled to Wisconsin, Illinois, and Arkansas for seasonal harvest work. As a teenager, Ignacio P. Huerta had a newspaper route and was a golf caddy at a golf course where he learned to play golf.
In 1956 the Huerta family moved to Houston, Texas where they settled. Ignacio P. Huerta attended both Jackson Jr. High and Sam Houston High School. While there he was part of the school’s swim team. He worked for his father who was a brick mason contractor.
In 1964, he married the love of his life Maria Elena Ramirez Huerta and they settled in east end Houston then had four children, they were married for 60 years.
In the early 1970s, his father Adalberto Huerta retired and Ignacio P. Huerta remained in the masonry business. Later in the 1980s, he added remodeling and then retired in 2004. Even though he had retired, he always found himself back in masonry and remodeling work.
If you ever met Ignacio P. Huerta you would know he is one of a kind. He was a happy soul with a kindred heart. He always had a good joke and would give you a nickname. He was passionate about food, always looking for a good restaurant but he had his favorites. He enjoyed gardening, and feeding his cat, and the wild birds that already knew him.
He enjoyed spending time with Moses the family's African Gray Parrot. He also enjoyed old TV shows, the news, and the NFL, especially his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys. But his ultimate love was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ignacio P. Huerta was a humble and kind man, always lending a hand to whoever needed home repairs, a good meal, or words of wisdom.
Ignacio P. Huerta is survived by his loving wife Maria Elena Ramirez Morales Huerta, his sister Francis de la Garza, his children Dora Laura Alim and her husband Kamal Alim, Ignacio Huerta Jr., Mireya Elizabeth Huerta, and Angel Gabriel Huerta. His grandchildren Amber Elizabeth Alim, Sanya Alyssa Alim, Amanda Laura Davis, Joshua Dale Davis, and Mary Chelsea Davis. His great-grandchildren Azlan Kamal Shike, Zayn Rasheed Shike, and Amber’s dog Macho. And other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Adalberto Huerta Gonzalez and Gabriela Perez Huerta and his siblings Gilberto Huerta, Lena Huerta, Antonio Huerta, and Maria Guadalupe Huerta.
