Ione Cartwright Cartwright Harlow

Ione C. Harlow, of Houston, died on Thursday, the 28th of April 2011, at the age of 82. She was born on the 23rd of April 1929, in Springvale Township, Pratt County Kansas to Wymer and Lotus Cartwright.

Ione graduated from Kansas University Nursing School in Kansas City in 1950. On the 10th of January 1952, she married Eugene Harlow. Ione, Gene and their three sons made their home in Houston Texas in the 60’s. Prior to her retirement from Houston’s Park Plaza Hospital in 1994, she worked as a Registered Nurse for many years specializing in infant care. Ione assisted in the care of thousands of newborn children and their mothers.

She is survived by her three sons, Eugene B. Harlow, III, of Rosenberg, Spencer Harlow and wife Rose of Houston, and Stuart Harlow and wife Rebecca of Spring; and two much loved grandchildren Michael and Lauren Harlow. Also surviving are her sister, Velda Spencer and her husband, Robert Jack of Kendall, KS; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Eugene B. Harlow II; parents, the late Lotus and Wymer Cartwright; and her three brothers, the late Edward Dean, Ronnie and Lowell Cartwright.

A private family ceremony will take place in Houston.
