Irene was one of my "mentors" at Southwestern Savings. Although she and I never worked in the same department, we were colleagues who liked and respected each other. I was just a green kid in the mortgage department, but she took me under her wing and taught me the value of doing a job right the first time, and also the value of becoming part of a larger "team". Who could possibly resist her gorgeous smile and inner beauty? Rest in peace, delightful, beautiful, Irene. Thank you for gracing the world with your sweetness.

Y'all were blessed with a beautiful woman who was a great deal of fun but also loved her family with everything she had. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I only met your Mother once or twice in Sargent, TX, along with LOTS of other family members, as well. I used to go down there with Wayne Steffek, Holly Steffek, and, of course, my husband, Kenny. It has been years, but, I remember how your Mom always made me feel like I was at a 'home away from home'. And, that beautiful smile she had...that carries on with you all! The world has lost a BEAUTIFUL and CARING person. No one knows that more than you. My deepest sympathies are with you and your family. Sending you all "Peace & Forever Springtime!"

I have such fond memories of working with Irene at Southwestern Savings during the early 70's.  She was a true friend and mentor.  We also shared a lot fun times outside the work place.  My deepest condolences to her children, who I also knew back then.

Aunt Irene, I regret not coming to visit you when my heart said to do so.  You were so precious to reach out and extend your heart to me and be my connection to my Mother and your sister Joann. Your love and inspiration kept my Mother, Joann, alive in my heart. Terry, news of your mother's death was shared with the Jamar cousins.  My husband, Harrell Jamar,  died in 2005.  I contacted Jeff, and he let his brother and sisters know.  I remember over the years your mother occasionally calling Harrell.  Please accept my condolences on your loss.  Trudy Jamar

to Irene's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, I am Janet Driskell -Harrell and Ada Nelle Jamar were my parents.  I was so sorry to hear about Irene's death - I hadn't seen her in so long.  It is so awful for families not to see each other that often.  I loved to hear Irene, my mother and Ma (our grandmother) laugh - such a soft, sweet laugh.  Sister was ten years older than my mother, my mother was ten years older than Irene and Irene was ten years older than me.  Someone took a picture of us four at someone's funeral gathering.  I love it and we laughed about the ten year thing so many times.  My mother loved Irene so much and I did too!  Please know that my heart is with you during this time.  I love the picture of her.

My dear Irene...when I look back on my  life and think of the people who made a difference, you are one who comes to mind. Forty years of friendship means you were the first to make a difference when it came to performing well on the job, but not to take it seriously enough to not enjoy it.  You kept that same humor in all the years I knew you.  Thanks for the memories, and that lesson.
